Lazy Cabbage Rolls

This Lazy Cabbage Rolls recipe is perfect for a big family meal on a busy week night.


Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs. ground beef / moose

  • 2 onions, chopped

  • 6 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 medium cabbage, chopped

  • 2 tbsp. tomato paste

  • 2 cans tomato sauce

  • 2 tbsp. worcesterchire sauce

  • 1 tbsp. chili powder

  • 1 tbsp. parsley flakes

  • 1 tsp. paprika

  • salt & pepper to taste

  • 3 cups basmati rice

  • grated cheese for serving

  • (optional)


Directions:

  1. In a large saucepan, fry ground beef or ground moose over medium heat until browned.

  2. While frying beef, cook 3 cups of basmati rice in a large pot according to rice instructions.

  3. When ground meat is close to browned add the onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, worcestershire sauce, chili powder, parsley flakes, paprika, salt & pepper, and cook stirring often until onions are translucent and meat is cooked, about 5 more minutes.

  4. Add tomato sauce and cabbage, stir often and cook until cabbage is tender.

  5. When rice is finished cooking, add the cabbage-meat mixture to the rice pot.

  6. Mix well

  7. Enjoy served with grated cheese on top.
